Hello girls!

I have finally decided to write this post. It is especially crucial for those of you, who are at the beginning of the hair care journey. You will learn what hair porosity, volume, thickness and length are. This will allow you to choose professional hair care cosmetics and make the best of your scalp treatment.

HAIR POROSITY

It is nothing else than the damage level of your hair. The more the hair scales are raised from the shaft, the worse the condition. You can distinguish three types of porosity: low, medium and high. Low porosity hair has tightly bound cuticle layer with overlapping scales that lay flat. This makes the strands smooth, soft and shiny. On the other hand, low porosity hair is difficult to dye, wet and blow-dry. The best way to take care fo such hair type is to use cosmetics rich in emollients as well as Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and mineral oils. To overcome oily scalp, use a thoroughly cleansing shampoo once in a while.

High porosity hair has gaps and holes in the cuticle. This is why the hair is rough, dull and damaged. It is most often a result of overprocessing such as frequent colour-treating, straightening or blow-drying. To make the best of the hair care, use cosmetics that will deeply regenerate, moisturise and thoroughly nourish your strands. Also, choose cosmetics that will prevent static and frizz. Another good idea is to apply leave-in conditioners and rich masks.

Medium porosity hair combines the characteristics of both high and low porosity hair. It t is often smooth and shiny but with split and damaged ends, while the scalp – sensitive and oily. To provide proper care, you must go for products that will moisturise the ends and restore scalp’s proper pH. Your products should include equal parts of humectants, emollients and proteins.

HAIR DENSITY

It is determined by the amount of hair per 1 cm2 of the scalp. There are three types of hair density: low, medium and high. If your hair is not dense, apply a lightweight formula cosmetics. This way you will not overburden it and the entire hairdo will not lose volume. To take care of medium density hair, use products with mousse consistency. You can also try cosmetic butter and creams. Very dense hair should be treated with cosmetics of rich formulas.

HAIR THICKNESS

It determined by the width of an individual strand of hair. We distinguish thick, medium and thin hair. The first type of hair is very wide at the follicle. Thin hair is susceptible to damage, prone to falling out and lacks volume. If you want to make your hair look nicer, use cosmetics that lift hair at the base. Hair of medium thickness combines the features of thick and thin hair. They are the easiest to take care of and style.

HAIR LENGTH

The length of the hair depends on the number of cosmetics you must use to take proper care of it. We distinguish pixie cuts or heads shaved completely. Short hairstyles usually have a length of up to 5 cm, average – 25 cm, and long hair more than 25 cm. To apply cosmetics to medium and long hair, part your hair. Also, do it when you want to comb, straighten, or create curls.
