India – a magical and oriental country, full of colors and… beautiful women having stunning hair and spotless skin. I don’t know if you’ve ever wondered why Indian women’s skin is so smooth and free of wrinkles very long whereas their hair is… a masterpiece 😉 Do they use any extraordinary, Ayurvedic products to enhance the good looks?

Let me answer. Obviously, they have different cosmetics or to be more precise – they use different plants than women from the regions of Europe, Africa, America… I’ve been using some Indian hair and body products for two months. I have good opinions about some of them. How do Ayurvedic beauty products work? Do they receive good reviews? Here’s a list of the most popular Ayurvedic cosmetics.

1. Ayurvedic Beauty Products – Body and Hair Oils

Oils are beloved products among Indians. I think they should be classified as a national treasure. I mean typical Ayurvedic herbs – Amla, Brahmi, Bringraj. These herbs are regarded as sacred among the people of India. Still, Indian women love the herbs more for the gift of beautiful hair. Amla, Brahmi and Bringraj stimulate faster hair growth, regenerate, reinforce and nourish. Ayurvedic herbs are combined with natural oils (creating maceration) – they’re ideal for the hair and scalp care. Use them for the body massage, too. A special group of oils – rich in rose oil and lotus flower extract – ensures a brilliant face skin care, ironing the lines and slowing down ageing.

2. Ayurvedic Beauty Products – Soaps

Ayurvedic soaps are used for body, face and hair washing – they’re splendid because they’re all-natural and completely different from drugstore soaps. Free of chemicals, parabens and silicones. Instead, they offer moisturising properties, the right pH and amazing conditioning power. Ayurvedic soaps are often enriched with Indian plant extracts, oils and even spices like curcuma (a source of antioxidants) and cinnamon (gives a healthy skin shade). Sesa is among the most popular soaps; it’s composed of six natural oils and herbs. It’s made for hair washing and eliminating scalp problems (dandruff, excessive sebum secretion). It gently purifies and gives a perfect skin detox. Use the soap once a week and leave the lather on the hair and scalp for around one hour. Sandal soap is a great choice for oily and acne-prone skin; it has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities, regenerates the skin and soothes irritations. Sandal soap contains sandalwood tree oil and it’s often enriched with coconut oil and aloe extract. Neem tree extract is another common ingredient of washing gels and soaps. It’s cut out for cleaning, smoothing and freshening the skin, helps to do away with acne and ensures the hydration.

3. Ayurvedic Beauty Products – Henna

If you look for a safe hair dye, which doesn’t leave the strands damaged, henna is a perfect Ayurvedic product for you. Henna is a herbal dye that treats both scalp and hair in a gentle way. You must know how to apply it the right way, though. You must be careful and attentive, too – watch the time so the color doesn’t get too intense. What’s more, you never know what effects you’re gonna get… The final color and effect depends on your hair condition, porosity, structure and natural shade. Obviously, you can experiment and mix shades. Experts know how to make the pigment warmer or cooler but I’m skeptical towards mixing pigments, colors, powders myself. I prefer to have my hair colored by specialists and then to use natural hair oils for repair.

4. Ayurvedic Beauty Products – Toothpastes

I don’t know if you know that Indian toothpastes are… really amazing. They’re more natural than our pastes and have an interesting taste. They provide a brilliant tooth and mouth care. My teeth have experienced an Ayurveda adventure as I treated them to a few Indian toothpastes. I’ve used Dabur Ayurvedic Toothpaste, Dabur Toothpaste with Aloe and Auromere Paste with as many as 24 Ayurvedic herb extracts. Each one is perfect and has a unique taste but most of all – each one is more natural than toothpastes that rule in our bathrooms. I also like an argan oil-enriched toothpaste. I think it gently brightens the teeth. Ayurvedic toothpastes are my stunners and I value them as much as I appreciate Indian natural oils.

A fun fact to sum up. What’s Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic beauty products are connected with Ayurveda – the philosophy and medicine of the East. It dates back to old times. The wisdom of Ayurveda has been written down in a book that’s sacred for the Indians. The entire health and beauty system in India functions following Ayurveda rules. The Ayurvedic beauty products take over the world, delivering splendid skin and hair benefits and most of all – being all-natural and free of chemicals.
